Following the success of our A Level students last week, we are delighted to announce another bumper set of GCSE results for our Year 12 students at Rockport School this week.

The GCSE students rose to the challenge and managed to once more raise the bar in terms of both percentage pass rates at A*-C and also those top A* and A grades. A phenomenal 83.7% of all grades achieved were at A*-C. An outstanding 25.9% were at the top grades of A* and A, with a further 11.7% placed at grade A*.

In comparison to our counterparts across the UK and Northern Ireland as a whole, we hold our heads high in light of the successes highlighted in the table below:

Special mention must go to our top performers who between them managed to amass a staggering 20A*, 3A, 3B and 1C* grades: Eva Duffy produced an outstanding 9A* and 1A (and also achieved an A* in her A Level French, which she took two years early!); Patrick Bremner scored 5A*, 2A and 2B grades and Andrew Marshall produced 6A* , 1B and 1C*.

Of particular note is the value-added profile which these students demonstrate. In their CAT (Cognitive Ability Tests), this cohort were predicted to achieve a percentage pass rate of 78.5% A*-C, while, in reality they managed to outperform that target and achieved a percentage pass rate of 83.7%.

Furthermore, at the top end of the spectrum, the percentage pass rates predicted by CAT at A* and A was 4.7%, whereas our students managed to increase this five-fold with an astonishing 25.9% of the grades awarded being A* and A this year. And a similar story applies at those top A* grades; not one pupil was predicted to achieve an A* in their CAT tests. However, the reality is that 11.7% of the grades achieved were at the very top grade of A* - no mean feat!

We are super proud of all of our students and wish them continued success in their A Level journey as they step into the world of Sixth Form.
