BOARDING AT ROCKPORT

Boarding

Boarding is at the heart of Rockport School. Our students reside in the main building and we offer full-time and flexi-boarding to both boys and girls. We are committed to our students having the highest levels of pastoral care and ensuring that their time in boarding is a happy and fulfilling one.

We encourage all our students to respect and care for each other, whatever age, and to be a proud contributor and member of the boarding community. Every year we 'refresh' our House ethos: as the needs and concerns of our students change, so does our Boarding Service. Our boarding prefects take a leading role in the House and all students are encouraged to consider a project that may allow them to gain the BSA Boarding Skills Award.

Above all, we believe that boarding fosters independence and the spirit of tolerance. The children in our boarding family welcome responsibility and grow in confidence as they move through the school.

There's so much to do!

The activities on offer in the evening exclusively for boarders include private access to Holywood coastal path and beach, ice skating, swimming, cinema and bowling. We also regularly attend an activity centre which offers caving, archery, crate climbing, zip lines, pedal karts and much more which help build team working skills.

There are extensive weekend activities to take part in including Lisburn swimming Pool, Camphill Fun Day, Belfast Giants ice hockey match, Ulster Rugby match, Ozone Laser Quest, W5, Belfast Zoo, horse riding, Ulster Museum, The Jungle outdoor activity centre, pantomimes, St Patrick's Train, mountain biking, mountain boarding, indoor karting, dry ski slopes and of course all of Northern Ireland's top tourist attractions including the Giant's Causeway and Titanic Visitor Centre.

Mrs Boes, Mum of Noah, Belgium

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all very much for the great care and lovely time Rockport gave our son.

We find him a transformed boy: boosted by the many friendships he made, the warm atmosphere of the boarding he was lucky to experience, and the discovery of a new and different schooling system. His love for and knowledge of the English language has increased exponentially and will sure to be a very useful companion for the rest of his life.

So a heartfelt thanks to the whole Rockport community!
