Rockport Prep School is modelled on English Prep School lines, i.e. R4 to R9 (the second year in secondary level education).

The overall aim of the Prep School is to help children gradually achieve independence, particularly in the area of work. Consequently the children from R5 to R9 remain in school each day until 5.30p.m. After a ten period day, incorporating sport or possibly music, they remain in school to complete their written prep. Prep is very much regarded as a diagnostic tool for the staff. Small prep allows younger children and dyslexics to ask questions, whereas big prep is done in complete silence.

While the Prep School compulsory day finishes at 5.30pm, the day children may stay for supper and evening clubs, if all places have not been filled by boarders.
