Pre-School
Children enter Pre-School Reception a year prior to starting school. During the month of September, children do not stay for lunch, but from October onwards they stay until 2.00pm each day.
Reception pupils integrate fully with the entire Pre-Prep Department, attending Morning Assembly and joining the other classes at Break times. In the Reception Class the children enjoy Free Choice Structured Play during the early part of the day.
A quiet time each day ensures attention is given to pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-number activities. Some Montessori methods will be introduced during the year. Montessori deals with the four main areas of learning, sensorial, practical life, language and mathematics.
Children move from Reception to R1, having been well prepared to cope with the demands of Key Stage 1 in the N. I. Curriculum.
