Prep
The overall aim of the Prep School is to help children gradually achieve independence, particularly in the area of work.
Consequently the children from R5 to R9 remain in school each day until 5.30pm After a ten period day, incorporating sport or possibly music, they remain in school to complete their written prep. Prep is very much regarded as a diagnostic tool for the staff. Small prep allows younger children and dyslexics to ask questions, whereas big prep is done in complete silence.
While the Prep School compulsory day finishes at 5.30pm, the day children may stay for supper and evening clubs, if all places have not been filled by boarders. There is great enthusiasm for clubs and the parents of younger children must be advised not to allow their children to stay late on too many evenings in the week.
