Rockport Prep School is modelled on English Prep School lines, i.e. R4 to R9 (the second year in secondary level education).
While there is one class at R4 level, the trend is usually to have two classes in each year group from R5 – R9. When there are two classes in a year group, the divide will be made depending very much on the abilities of those particular children, although the tendency is to have mixed ability forms with setting in the core subjects.
R5 has a form teacher for English, Maths and two to three other subjects, while from R6 upwards each class has a form teacher and is taught by subject specialists. For as long as the 11+ transfer continues, there is continuity of teaching in R6 and R7 in English, Maths and Science with the relevant Heads of Departments.
