Duke of Edinburgh
The Award Scheme is available to Senior Pupils. Pupils can begin their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh in January of Year 10. Achieving an award requires considerable commitment although there is a very wide variety of activities in which the pupils take part.
The Skills section has been completed with activities from cookery to playing an instrument and from stamp collecting to ICT. The Service section has involved pupils in volunteering in Charity shops and helping in an animal shelter or helping in the Pre-Prep Department. Pupils have also been involved in many sponsorship activities and supported several charities.
The Physical Recreation section has been completed by playing netball or rugby, or by individual sports like swimming. For many the highlight of the award is the Expedition section. The training for this is held in the school and involves intensive work in planning routes and writing route cards.
