Old Rockportian
As a pupil during the 60s, then as a teacher since 1981 and later as a parent who has sent five children to the school, I have seen Rockport change and develop over five decades.
The most obvious changes are the improvements in the facilities, with the addition of science labs, a sports hall, an all weather pitch, computer suites and the like. Less obvious perhaps, are the improvements made to the range of subjects like ICT, HE, and Spanish as well as extending the age range to include Reception and GCSE classes.
Some things however have not changed, I'm very glad to say. Rockport still retains that special, caring family ethos that excited me in my day as a boy here and no doubt existed since its founding in 1906. There is still an emphasis on good manners and of course the beautiful old Georgian house is still there set amidst woodland on the shores of Belfast Lough.
